Assam's War against corruption: 4 helpline numbers launched; 1 e-mail account, 1 Twitter account opened for registering complaints.

Assam’s Fight against Corruption continues on a full-scale. The Assam government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has intensified it’s efforts to uproot corruption to ensure transparency in governance.

As part of it’s renewed war against corruption, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption of Assam has issued multiple helpline numbers to register complaints pertaining to bribery.

As notified the common mass can file complaint against any government official or other employees who seek bribe in lieu of resolving issues.

The available data clearly reflects the committment of the Himanta Biswa Sarma government in tightening the noose around drug cartels. Since January 1 till October 29 this year, 101 cases were registered against corrupt government officials leading to the arrest of 115 tainted public servants.

It may be mentioned that the number of cases registered and the highest number of corrupt officials arrested in connection with bribery cases is the highest this year since the Himanta Biswa Sarma government came to power in 2019.

Earlier, 13 corrupt officials were arrested in 2021, 18 in 2020, 16 in 2019, 22 in 2018 and 11 in 2017.
