APDCL Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) of Patharkandi in Assam’s Karimganj district and two other power department officials faces arrest for allegedly generating inflated electricity bill.
An arrest warrant naming the SDO and the other two employees have been issued by the Karimganj court. The arrest warrant has been issued based on a case filed by Hafiz Abul Hussain, a customer of Patharkandi Electricity Board.
The residents of Barak Valley have been complaining of an alleged hike in their electricity bills for last few months.
As per the complainant, he had approached the Partharkandi APDCL SDO and other officials on the overcharge in the electricity bill, however, the officials did not pay any heed to his complaint following which he approached the court.
The APDCL charged the man a huge sum of Rs 30,000 and Rs 18000 in the previous months, which compelled Hussain to file a case.
The Karimganj court, based on the complaint, called on the SDO, Biman Haloi, SMR Roshan Thakur, and meter reader Sagar. However, they did not present themselves before the court. Following which, the court issued an arrest warrant against the SDO of Patharkandi APDCL and the other two on Monday.
As per inputs, the court has directed Pathakandi police to arrest SDO, SMR, and the meter reader before June 21 and hand them over to the court.
