Active ULFA-I cadre surrenders before security forces in Assam

An active United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) cadre surrendered before the security forces in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Sunday.

The surrendered ULFA-I cadre has been identified as Madhab Chetia alias Suraj Axom.

As per inputs, Chetia surrendered at Jeypore Army cantonment in the Naharkatia area.

The security forces also recovered a hand grenade from his possession.

Chetia had joined the militant organization in 2021 and hails from Disangmukh village in Sivasagar district.

On Friday another active cadre of the banned militant outfit had surrendered in Tinsukia district in the state.

The surrendered cadre, Polash Moran, surrendered in the presence of high-ranking officials of the Tinsukia Police at Philobari area.
