In a major breakthrough against militancy in the region, a ULFA-Independent cadre was arrested from Bengaluru.

The ULFA-Independent cadre has been described an over ground worker and is identified as Ranjit Gogoi hailing from Bosagaon in Sadiya.


A team of Tinsukia Police arrested the ULFA-I over ground worker from Bengaluru with the help of the Bengaluru Police.

Tinsukia Additional SP Ripunjoy Kakoti has informed Northeast Live that Ranjit Gogoi has been a close aide of deaded ULFA-I militant Gyan Asom who was recently killed in an encounter in Kakopathar in eastern Assam’s Tinsukia district.

As per sources, Ranjit Gogoi has been responsible for the financial transactions carried out by Gyan Asom after extorting money from various sources. The ULFA-I cadre’s arrest to break the over ground network of ULFA-I which is also spread in cities outside of Assam.
