Assam: 12-year old missing girl’s body found in septic tank, suspected to be raped and murdered

As per inputs, the child and her mother had gone to attend a Bihu cultural function on May 1 in North Margherita.

Assam woke up to the horrific news of a 12-year old child’s body being found inside a septic tank. The child who had gone missing in Margherita in Tinsukia district of Assam on May 2, is suspected to have been raped, murdered and her body dumped in the septic tank.

The accused was known to the child.

As per inputs, the child and her mother had gone to attend a Bihu cultural function on May 1 in North Margherita. When the child fell asleep, the mother took her to the house of an acquaintance. Next morning the child, a Class 6 student, was nowhere to be found.

The child’s family had approached the police yesterday.

But sensing something was not right, locals raided the rented house of the accused last night following which the spine chilling incident came to light.

Police who soon rushed to the spot recovered the victim’s body from the septic tank.
Meanwhile, the accused Annan Tanti is absconding. His wife has been detained, police said.
