Party hopping in Arunachal: 6 BJP ticket aspirants denied tickets, join NPP

The NPP leadership has maintained that the names of the candidates will be finalized on the basis of winnability percentage, leadership quality and popular public demand

At least 6 ticket aspirants who were denied party tickets for the ensuing Assembly Elections by the BJP in Arunachal Pradesh have joined the NPP today.

The names include-
Ramjo Produng who was a BJP ticket aspirant from Bameng,
Taja Bonung who was an aspiring BJP candidate from Romgung
Mayu Taring from Palin constituency
Nagram Togung from Koloriang
Nobang Burang from Tuting- Yinkiong
and Tabe Doni from Dumporijo.

The BJP has fielded- (in 2024 Election)
Doba Lamnio from Bameng
Talem Taboh from Rumgong
Balo Raja from Palin
Pani Taram from Koloriang
Alo Libang from Tuting-Yingkiong
Rode Bui from Dumporijo

Arunachal NPP President P Bage speaking about the development said, “The leaders who have joined NPP will be contesting the elections. They will be good candidates and hopefully people will respect them. I appeal to the voters of the respective constituencies of the leaders who joined us today, to cast their votes in favour of NPP. They (voters) must give NPP the chance to perform at the constituency level.”

Asked as to how many ticket aspirants who were denied tickets by the BJP have joined the NPP, Baghe said, “We have received at least 61 applications for tickets and out of that there are 36 leaders who have been denied tickets by the BJP have joined NPP. But we will finalize the names on the basis of winnability percentage, leadership quality and popular public demand.”

Dumporijo candidate Tabe Doni speaking to Northeast Live after his joining said, “NPP is a party with a national outlook but connected with regional aspirations. So I decided to join the party under the leadership of Conrad Sangma. I will be contesting from the Dumporijo constituency.”
