Two persons abducted by the NSCN (K-YA) militants in Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding district have been rescued by the police.

As per sources, both the persons identified as Hiren Koch and Ramashish Mahato have been rescued by Longding Police. Sources have also stated that both the persons are in good health and have undergone medical checkups.

Hiren Konch is a JCB operator, and Ramasish Mahato hails from Jalpaiguri in West Bengal.

Meanwhile, Hiren Koch’s family members in Assam’s Tingkhang have heaved a sigh of relief. Both his wife and mother are happy that he has been rescued and hope to have him back at home at the earliest. Both the workers had been kidnapped from Pumao in Longding by the militants on January 31.

Inititally, three persons were abducted, one of whom, identified as Bangphua Wangpan, was released the next day at Nyasa in Nagaland, where they were taken to.

The abductees were engaged in the construction of the Pumao-Langkhow Road and were staying at a camp site near where the abduction took place. It was also reported that self-styled NSCN (K-YA) Colonel, Botai Wangsu, led the group during the abduction.

Reportedly, the militants snatched the mobile phones and vehicle keys at the camp site, due to which the information about the kidnapping reached late on Tuesday evening. The remaining workers had to walk several kilometers to inform the police about the incident.

Previously, NSCN (K-YA) militants kidnapped construction workers and local villagers in Longding district.Meanwhile, security forces had launched a massive search for the abducted individuals.
