Arunachal bandh: East Siang residents demand arrest of people calling for bandh on May 11- 12

The aggrieved general public and youths said that all involved in this bandh call should be arrested immediately in the interest of the public

Amid the 3-day Itanagar bandh called by certain individual groups to protest the APPSC question paper leak, aggrieved public and youth of East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh has opposed the bandh and sought an inquiry into those who had submitted the letter to DC East Siang regarding the bandh call.
“Bandh call is illegal and disrupts normal life of general public, business community, students…therefore, an immediate enquiry of the CCTV footage of DC Office Pasighat has to be made public to find out who had submitted the letter and should be arrested immediately for public interest,” the letter to DC, East Siang said.
The letter further said that the people of East Siang would not tolerate any bandh callers in the area.
Meanwhile, the situation in capital city Itanagar where, though few medical shops did open this morning, day two of the 3-day bandh, normal life continued to be disrupted with hardly any people or vehicles on the streets.
Arunachal Police conducted flag march on the city streets to announce that it is safe for people to come out of their homes.
Talo Potom, DC Itanagar and Rohit Rajbir Singh, SP, Itanagar said that if situation continues to be peaceful then Section 144 and ban on mobile internet services would be lifted after reviewing the situation.
Arunachal Home Minsiter Bamang Felix chaired a review meeting today afternoon. Another Itanagar district level meeting is scheduled later this afternoon to take stock of the situation across Itanagar.
As a precautionary measure, police had arrested 37 people who had the potential to cause unrest in the state during the bandh, SP Singh said briefing the media in Itanagar.
