Centre approves Rs 3890 cr to boost road connectivity in Arunachal

The Central Government has approved a Rs 3890.45 crore investment to boost road connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh.

An amount of Rs 1014.59 crore has been approved for the construction of a 61.55-km-long Kharsang-Miao-Vijaynagar-Gandhigram section of the NH-913 Frontier Highway.

Rs 626.92 crore has been kept aside for the construction of a 35-km-long Sarla-Huri section of NH-913 highway and Rs 2248.94 crore has been approved for construction of Lada-Sarli section of NH-913 highway spanning 105.59 kms.

The news was announced by Chief Minister Pema Khandu on his official X handle.

Khandu said that the move will ensure seamless connectivity and will catalyze socio-economic development in the hilly areas of the state, will promote tourism and encourage reverse migration towards border areas.

Taking to his X handle, the Chief Minister wrote, “Gratitude to Hon’ble Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Shri @nitin_gadkari ji for giving nod to the extension of Frontier Highway in Arunachal Pradesh! Ever grateful to Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji for being so concerned about the region’s all-round development. It will further ensure seamless connectivity, catalyzing socio-economic development in the hilly areas of the state, promoting tourism, and encouraging reverse migration towards border areas, thus taking the pace of last mile development to the next level.”

Union Minister of Earth and Sciences Kiren Rijiju also praised Prime Minister Narendra for taking up the move calling it the most difficult, ambitious and challenging highway undertaken by the PM.

Taking to his X handle, Rijiju wrote, “Frontier Highway is the most difficult, ambitious and challenging highway undertaken by PM @narendramodi ji to develop border areas of Arunachal Pradesh.”
He further called it a historic moment for connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh.
