Arunachal Pradesh: Monpa community’s apex body celebrates Losar at LAC near Bumla

In an act of gratitude towards the soldiers guarding the borders and for their selfless service to the nation, the Monpa Mimang Tshogpa, the apex body of the Monpa community, organised Losar celebrations at the LAC near Bumla which is situated at an altitude of 15200 feet above sea level.
The program was attended by Colonel JS Dodhy, the Deputy Commander of Tawang Brigade as the chief guest along with other senior army officers.
Speaking on the occasion, Namgey Tsering Secretary general of MMT said that safety, good health, and happiness for all the soldiers and their family members are always there in our prayers, but we seldom get the opportunity to celebrate our festivals with soldiers.
Tsering said that the function was held at the LAC to boost the morale of the soldiers and to convey the message that if needed people of Tawang are always behind their soldiers.
We are able to celebrate festivals and enjoy good sleep because our soldiers are sacrificing their comforts for us, he added.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commander expressed his gratitude to the people of Tawang for their support and love and said this would further strengthen the bonhomie between the Indian army and the civil public of Tawang.
Hundreds of tourists visiting Bumla also enjoyed the cultural shows and lunch with Indian army soldiers and organizers.
On the occasion, the Secretary general of MMT Namgey Tsering with other executive members offered khadas, the sacred silk scarfs to all the soldiers and tourists with Losar wishes. While the monks from Tawang monastery performed rituals by hoisting religious prayer flags.
The traditional dances and solo performances by Sonam Yangchin, Tenzin Choiphel, and Tashi Drema made all present at the function rise from their seats and enjoy.
“It was a lifetime experience and shall cherish the memory of such a beautiful function at LAC on 15200 ft” commented the tourists visiting from different parts of the country.
Lastly the secretary general of MMT said that they are planning more such functions with their soldiers in other border posts of the district in the future.
