Arunachal: NSCN (K-YA) behind abduction of 2 officials of a pvt company: Sources

A self styled rebel leader, Botai Wangsu of the NSCN (K-YA) had led the 4 member group of heavily armed militants during the abduction.

Security agencies have accessed crucial leads regarding the abduction of a Junior Engineer and a Supervisor from Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding district yesterday. As per inputs from reliable sources, the NSCN (K-YA) is behind the abduction.

A self styled rebel leader, Botai Wangsu of the NSCN (K-YA) had led the 4 member group of heavily armed militants during the abduction. Wangsu is a hardcore militant and wanted for various cases related to extortion, kidnappings, etc, in the Tirap, Changland and Longding (TCL) region of the frontier state.

Top officials of Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police from Longding and Tirap are closely monitoring the situation and a massive counter insurgency operation to trace the abducted duo is underway.

In the wee hours of Thursday, the armed gunmen equipped with sophisticated weapons came to an under construction bridge site and kidnapped Liamgao Pansa, Supervisor, and Sashan Yadav, JE working in a private company responsible for the construction of the bridge.

The abduction took place in between Pongchau and Konnu village. Further, the militants also snatched away more than 20 mobile handsets from the bridge construction workers.

Earlier, on October 29, Village Chief of Kamhua Noksa village, Katwang Wangham along with his brother Wangtai Wangsa were abducted by rebels of the NSCN Ang Mai faction.

However, nearly two weeks after being held captive, the village chief and his brother were released safely on November 10.
