One person from Chop village who had reportedly gone to negotiate with an militant outfit to secure release of the villagers abducted recently was held captive by the outfit
In an interesting turn of events, a man who along with another person had gone to seek the release of the King of Chop village in Arunachal Pradesh and the village headman, has been held captive by the militant outfit, NSCN-Ang Mai who had allegedly abducted the King and the village headman from Chop on November 28.
As per inputs, the locals from Chop village had gone to one of the militant bases in adjoining Myanmar to negotiate and secure the safe release of the King and the village headman. However, after the negotiations failed, one of the two men was held captive while the other villager was allowed to leave.
It is said that peeved by the lack of action by the Pema Khandu-led Arunachal Pradesh government despite several abductions and insurgent activities in Longding district the villagers took it upon themselves to secure the release of their abducted loved ones, putting their own lives in danger in the process.
As per sources, NSCN Ang Mai faction is suspected to have carried out the abduction and even demanded a whopping ransom of Rs 1.65 crore for the release.
Meanwhile, newly appointed Longding Superintendent of Police (SP) Dekio Gumja, B.Tangjang, DSP headquarters, and team of STF personnel visited Chop village and took stock of the situation.
The SP also interacted with the village authorities and the family members of the victims from the village.
He assured all possible help and effort to provide security to the village.
