APPSC paper leak case: PAJSC fears threat to prime accused Taket Jerang’s life

The PAJSC has appealed the state government to take necessary steps and provide security to prime accused Taket Jerang
The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) is apprehensive that prime accused in the APPSC paper leak fiasco might be targetted, whom the pressure group considers to be the core part of the “jigsaw puzzle” for resolving the issue.
The prime accused walked out of the jail after he was granted bail by the Supreme Court on November 10.
PAJSC leader Rana Techi speaking to Northeast Live said, “The APPSC fiasco is one issue and cantering this one issue there are many important facets like whistleblower Gyamar Padang is an important factor, main accused Taket Jerang is also one of the important factors here, there is also late Tumi Gangkak and the PAJSC as well as the people of Arunachal as a whole. Among these elements, most probably Taket Jerang is the main part of the jigsaw puzzle which can help resolve this issue.
Because as you know whistleblower Gyamar Padang is no more with us, and an unfortunate incident has also happened with Tumi Gangkak, I as a PAJSC leader and also as a common man have apprehension, since Jerang is a potential part of the jigsaw puzzle who can help resolve this issue.
But since he is now free there is an apprehension that this person’s life is at risk. I am not saying it with full faith but there is a possibility that Taket Jerang might be targetted. God forbid, but we wish and pray that he is safe.”
The PAJSC has demanded that the state government takes adequate steps to ensure safety of Taket Jerang. Techi said, “I would like to appeal the state government that the least they can do is to protect, to give enough security to Taket Jerang so that Arunachal as a society can see the light at the end of the tunnel in this fiasco.”
However, the PAJSC has expressed its dismay over Jerang being granted bail by the apex court.
“We (PAJSC) have received a setback after SC granted bail to prime accused Taket Jerang, this is a very unfortunate development,” Rana Techi said.
Gyamar Padang, the whistle blower of the infamous Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) paper leak case of 2022, breathed his last on May 4 while undergoing treatment at the Asian Institution of Gastroenterology Hospital in Hyderabad.
Tumi Gangkak, then under Secretary-cum- Assistant Controller of Examination of APPSC, was found hanging from a bamboo stern using a Shirt as a ligature and cut marks on the left hand and right ankle area on February 24 this year.
