The law is said to have very tough provisions including hefty penalties an jail terms

In what can be termed as a fallout of the APPSC paper leakage issue, the Pema Khandu government in Arunachal Pradesh has drafted a Bill with certain very stringent provisions to deter people from indulging in corrupt practices like leaking question papers of recruitment exams or taking money for jobs, taking bribe in lieu of getting some work done.

Briefing newspersons in Itanagar today, Ajay Chagti, Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms, Government of Arunachal Pradesh said, “It shall have heavy penalties, fines, arrests. The punishment will be extremely stringent and the Honourable CM has been very particular about it, that we must take steps not only for the past but also to prevent such things from happening in future.”

“It is very easy to say we have investigated, 54 persons caught, SOP finalized, Commission constituted or being constituted. But what is the fear factor for the persons who are committing such malpractices. So a draft bill has been prepared on the directions of the Cabinet. It is uploaded on the website of the Arunachal government”, the Secretary further said.

The provisions of the Bill are to instil a sense of fear among the people. The Bill has been put up in the website for people and stakeholders to send their feedback within four weeks after which the Bill will be placed before the Cabinet for its approval and will become a law once the Governor signs it.
