Nagaland guitarist Imnainla Jamir named global ambassador of MasterPeace COOLeaders

Imnainla Jamir, a well-known guitarist from Nagaland who gained fame for playing the national anthem in a unique way at the Hornbill Festival in 2022, has been selected as the global ambassador for MasterPeace COOLeaders, a Netherlands-based non-governmental organization.

The news was announced by Abu Metha, Adviser to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

MasterPeace came to know about of Jamir from her unique rendition of the Indian National Anthem at the Hornbill Festival in 2022. It approached Imnainla Jamir through the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) to invite her to be the MasterPeace COOLeaders’ global ambassador and to share her amazing talent and outreach for social change and climate action. 

TaFMA is a Nagaland’s government initiative to promote talents in arts and music sector.

Jamir accepted the offer and expressed her gratitude to MasterPeace for considering her to be one of their global ambassadors. 

She said that she is eager to see what is ahead and excited to work on initiatives that will improve, clean up, and nourish the planet. 

She said, “I have lots to learn and much to do…happy to start a new chapter as Global Ambassador for MasterPeace.”

In a message, Aart Bos, CEO MasterPeace Foundation Utrechtsaid, “I am happy to invite guitarist Ms. Imnainla Jamir to be the MasterPeace COOLeaders Global Ambassador. We hope that this partnership will present her an excellent opportunity to reach out to a global audience and have the chance of working closely with our team to develop new artistic concepts and projects. MasterPeace looks forward to this amazing co-creation with her.”

Taking to X on December 28, 2023, MasterPeace wrote, “Delighted to welcome you to the Masterpeace family and looking forward to many new creations and experiences in the future.”

MasterPeace is headquartered in Holland with a presence in over 70 countries.

Born in 2002, Imnainla Jamir hails from Ungma village in Mokokchung district of Nagaland.

In March this year, she was honoured with the H.E.R Award at the 6th edition of ‘We The Women Festival’ held in Jaipur.
