Continuing its crackdown on drugs, Meghalaya Police seized heroine worth Rs 6 crore from Khliehriat under the East Jaintia Hills Police Station.

The drugs were seized from an interstate drug trafficker along with a car.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma lauded the efforts of the state police. Taking to his official X handle, Sangma wrote, “Kudos to @lrbishnoiips and the entire @MeghalayaPolice for a triumphant start to 2024! Their remarkable effort led to the seizure of Heroin worth Rs. 6 Crores at Khliehriat under @ejhpolice from a hardcore interstate drug trafficker along with a swift desire car.Further investigation is on. As we embark on this new year,our steadfast determination against drugs remains unshaken. Let’s forge ahead unitedly to realize the vision of a #DrugsFreeMeghalaya.”

Meghalaya DGP L.R Bishnoi replied to the Chief Minister’s message, saying, “Highly grateful to you HCM @SangmaConrad sir for your consistent guidance and unflinching support. Your gracious appreciation will further ignite us to go to the extra mile to achieve your vision of #DrugsFreeMeghalaya.”
It maybe mentioned that in October last year, Meghalaya Police seized a large consignment of drugs with a market value of Rs 9 crore and arrested 3 drug traffickers.
