LS polls 2024: RDA announces Robertjune Kharjahrin as common candidate from Shillong parliamentary seat

The decision was taken mutually by the United Democratic Party (UDP) and the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) after a meeting of the RDA.

The Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) – an alliance of the United Democratic Party (UDP) and the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), on Tuesday decided to field former Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) president Robertjune Kharjahrin as the common candidate from the Shillong Parliamentary seat for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

The decision was taken mutually at a meeting of the RDA, which was held on Tuesday.

Kharjahrin had just recently joined the UDP.

As per inputs, Kharjahrin will contest with the symbol of the UDP during the election.

Earlier, two political parties of the state – NPP and VPP announced their candidates for the Lok Sabha elections from the State.

National People’s Party (NPP) named cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh for the Shillong seat and sitting MP Agatha Sangma for the Tura seat.

The Voice of People Party (VPP) fielded its general secretary Ricky A J Syngkon as the candidate from the Shillong seat.
