MPCC President decides not to resign

Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee President Lalsawta, on Tuesday, stated that after introspection and plea from party members, he has decided not to resign from his post as party President.

On Monday Lalsawta had mentioned that he will resign as the party leader, taking moral responsibility for the party’s rout in the Mizoram Legislative Assembly elections. The Indian National Congress won only one seat in Mizoram, at Lawngtlai West constituency by veteran politician C Ngunlianchunga.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Lalsawta said, “I have decided to reconsider my decision to resign today because of pressure applied to me by Congress party members. I have decided not to resign.”
