Assam: DGP GP Singh asks ULFA-I to disclose location where it dumped bodies of executed cadres

Assam DGP GP Singh today once again asked the banned outfit, United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I), to disclose the location where the bodies of the two cadres it executed have been dumped, so that Assam Police can return the bodies to their respective families their last rites can be performed.
“With th help of any government, we will bring back the bodies of the executed youths. Please let us know where you left the bodies. The grieving families deserve this from you (ULFA-I),” DGP Singh wrote on X.
DGP GP Singh also made a clarion call to all the youths of the state and urged them not to destroy their lives by going to the jungles (forest) and join militant outfits.
Speaking to the media, DGP Singh said that it was rather unfortunate that youths who are being lured to join outfits, ultimately meet with a tragic fate.
It may be mentioned that the ULFA-I ‘executed’ its senior cadres, namely Lachit Hazarika alias Salim Asom and Barnali Axom alias Nayanmoni Chetia on September 20 at the outfit’s Hachi camp in Sagain area of Myanmar for allegedly working as spies for the Indian Army and Assam Police.
The banned outfit has confirmed this in a statement yesterday.
Lachit Hazarika who hails from Assam’s Tinsukia was with ULFA-I since the 1990s and is considered to be a close aide of the outfit’s commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah. While Nayanmoni Chetia was an emerging boxer from Tinsukia, when she reportedly joined the ULFA-I in 2021.
