3 Wushu players from Arunachal Pradesh were not allowed entry by China to participate in the Games being held in Hangzhou
A total of 52 players from the Northeastern region of India are part of the 655 strong Indian contingent taking part in the just started 19th Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. The Games started on September 23 and will end on October 8.
Here’s the list of athletes from Northeast participating in the event:
Manipur: From Manipur 38 players will be participating at the event.
1. Judo: Indubala Devi
2.Diving: Heman London Singh
3.Weightlifting: Mirabai Chanu and Bindyarani Devi
4.Wushu: Sunil Singh, Suraj Singh and Roshibina Devi
5.Rowing: Tendenthoi Devi and Priya Devi
6.Hockey: Nilakanta Sharma andSushila Chnau
7. Cycling: Ronaldo Singh and Rojit Singh
8.Canoeing & Kayaking : Sunil Singh, Ribason Singh, Gyaneshwar Singh, Binita Devi and Soniya Devi
9. Football: Amarjit Singh Kiyam, Bala Devi, Panthoi Chanu, Grace Dangmei, Ashalata Devi, Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem, Chinglensana Singh, Sweety Devi, Priyangka Devi, Ranjana Chanu
10. Sepak Takraw: Priya Devi, Chaoba Devi, Akash Yumnam, Malemnganba Singh, Niken Singh, John Meitei, Henary Singh, Maipak Devi, Leirentonbi Devi, Ayekpam Priya Devi
Assam: 6 athletes from the state will be participating at the event.
1.Boxing: Lovlina Borgohain and Shiva Thapa
2. Swimming: Shivangi Sharma
3. Cricket: Uma Chetry
4. Badminton: Ashmita Chaliha
5. Amlan Borgohain (Athletics)
Mizoram: 3 players from the state will be participating in hockey and football matches at th event.
1.Hockey: Lalremsiami
2.Football: Lalchungnunga and Ayush Dev Chhetri
Nagaland: 2 from Nagaland– Sezovelu Dozo and Seyekhrieno Tepa will be participating in Sepak Takraw games.
Arunachal Pradesh: 3 players from the state will be participating at the event.
- Wushu: Nyeman Wangsu, Onilu Tega and Mepung Lamgu
