"Let's unite with one voice and reach the Central government with our demands," said Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma

Two months after stepping down as the chairperson of the Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (Tipra Motha), Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma today appealed the cadres of the banned outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) to shun the path of violence and join the mainstream and endorse the demands of the indigenous people of the state in New Delhi together.

Speaking on Facebook Live, Pradyot Debbarma said, ” Let’s unite with one voice and reach the Central government with our demands. Instead of focusing on party politics when we communicate with the Government of India, we should only focus on our demands for the rights of the indigenous people of the state. This is not the time for fighting with each other, this is a time to be patient. We have almost reached our goal, and if we take back steps now, the loss will be ours. Our community will survive.”

” The demand for Greater Tipraland is our main demand, and we hope that the Government of India will understand the fact that Tripura’s development is impossible without the active participation of the indigenous people of the state. It is very saddened that despite the fact that this land belongs to us (Tiprasa), we are having to fight for our rights, and we are fighting peacefully,” Pradyot Debbarma added.

Stating that ‘violence cannot solve our problems, Debbarma urged NLFT to refrain from resorting to violence and join the mainstream and voice out their rights and demands together before the Government of India.

He also criticized the opposition CPI(M) for neglecting the indigenous population of the state during their tenure and emphasized his commitment to his community.

” I am not fighting for my personal gain, money or anything else for myself, because I do not require anything. I a, fighting so that our native indigenous people in the state can live the way the other communities of the Northeast are living with a sense of self-respect and pride,” he added.
