War on Drugs: Meghalaya police seize Crystal Meth worth Rs 15 crores

Meghalaya police, in its continuous efforts to eradicate drug menace from the state, seized 10.16 kilograms of Crystal Meth worth Rs 15 crores on Sunday.
The Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) received credible inputs of a drug supplier travelling from Mizoram’s capital Aizawl via Silchar towards Khliehriat, in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills in a tourist vehicle carrying illegal contraband.
Based on credible source information, the ANTF team set up Naka (checkpoint) at Kongong and detained the said vehicle and the person.
On searching, 10 black packets were found in his suitcase. The police also seized two mobile phones from the drug peddler.
The drug supplier has been identified as Lalmungsanga, a resident of Aizawl, Mizoram.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Khliehriat Police Station under relevant sections of the law, and an investigation is underway to trace backward and forward linkages.
The Meghalaya Chief Minister, lauding the Meghalaya police in the state government’s war against drugs, wrote on X, “Today’s seizure is a testimony of our unwavering commitment to eradicate drug menace. Let’s all rally together and pledge to create #DrugFreeMeghalaya”
