As the new Haflong station is set to get a new makeover, the people of Haflong are skeptical about the condition of the road to the station, which is in dilapidated condition.
Speaking to Northeast Live, the auto drivers who ferry the train passengers said it’s a good news for the people of Dima Hasao, but at the same time, the approach road and other passenger amenities should also be considered.
The locals expressed that the road right from Ranima Statue to New Haflong Station is at worst consition. The roads were affected during May–June 2022, however, even after repeated complaints, no repair was done.
The People are forced to travel through the dilapidated road, risking their lives, to reach the station, the locals said.
Moreover, the street lights from Ranima Statue to New Haflong have also not been functioning for a long time.
“Only renewing the station is not enough. The roads need to be repaired,” one of the locals expressed.
