Rakkam Sangma draw a clear distinction between active party members and those who are mere troublemakers

In the aftermath of the recent violent incident in Tura, Meghalaya, the state’s Education Minister, Rakkam A Sangma, has spoken out against those responsible for inciting violence and causing havoc in the region.

On Wednesday, he addressed the issue of arrested individuals being linked to political parties, drawing a clear distinction between active party members and those who are mere troublemakers.

Minister Rakkam A Sangma stated that if an individual holds a prominent position within a political party, it is reasonable to associate them with that particular party. However, he emphasized that this should not be extended to individuals who do not hold any official position within any political organization but engage in acts of violence and lawlessness.

“There are certain individuals who have been arrested and hold high positions within different political parties, and certainly, we can say that they belong to those specific political parties. But for some individuals who do not have any affiliations with political parties and are here solely to create problems, they are criminals. They are like criminals”, said Rakkam A Sangma

The Minister further emphasized that voting for a particular political party does not automatically brand someone as an active member of that party.

On Tuesday, Rakkam Sangma condemned the violence, deeming it an unfortunate incident. He said that the government would take all necessary measures to address the situation and prevent similar incidents in the future.
