Manipur unrest: Fresh firing reported from Kangpokpi

The situation in Manipur continues to remain volatile with incidents of violence being reported from the state. Day after intense firing at Chinglangmei Kom village and Langza Hmar village in Churachandpur district yesterday, fresh firing have been reported from Kangpokpi district this morning.
As per inputs, unidentified armed miscreants opened indiscriminate fire at Phaileng village at around 3:30 am today.
The firing continued at least for five hours.
Armed miscreants also attacked volunteers in Thingsat Hill range at around 8:30 am and firing.
However, no casualty has been reported so far.
Yesterday, 3 people were killed in a gunfight that took place in the wee hours yesterday at Khoijumantabi in Bishnupur.
Violence also erupted at the nearby Langza and Chinlangmei villages in the Churachandpur district. According to reports, a youth was brutally killed in the area by miscreants. Houses were also torched in Langza village.
Manipur has been on the boil for two months now since violence broke out in the state between two communities on May 3.
