65-year-old farmer dies in lightning strike in Tripura, 3rd lightning death in a week

This is the third incident of death due to lightning strike in the state in less than a week

A 65-year-old farmer died while working in his field after being struck by lightning on Wednesday. The incident occurred at Lembuchhara, under the jurisdiction of Teliamura police station in Khowai district of Tripura.

This is the third incident of death due to lightning strike in the state in less than a week’s time.

The deceased farmer has been identified as one Khokon Malakar. He was struck by lightning and suffered fatal injuries right on his agricultural land where he like other days went to work.

Malakar’s family members rushed him to Teliamura Hospital, where the attending doctor declared him dead.

It may be added here that last Thursday, two people were killed while several others, including a pregnant woman, were injured in separate incidents of lightning strikes in Sepahijala district of Tripura.
