NGOCC to hold protest rally in Aizawl on June 23

The rally is being organised to show solidarity and support and convey their condolences and sympathies to victims of Manipur violence
Mizoram NGO Coordination Committee (NGOCC), a conglomerate of all the major civil societies and student organizations have called for a protest rally in Aizawl on June 23 to show support and solidarity to the Kuki-Zos in Manipur. They have decided to hold the rally in front of the Raj Bhavan (Governor’s House).
A statement issued after the meeting said, “We, the representatives of major organizations in the state expressed anguish over the loss of lives and properties which have created massive sufferings to our kindred brothers and sisters in Manipur hill areas.”
“In order to express our condolences and sympathies to our brothers and show our solidarity with them in this hour of darkness, we have decided to organize “Thlavang hauhna hun” (a rally to show support),” the statement said.
The NGOCC invited all the people of the state to participate in the protest rally and the sub-headquarters of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) as well as Young Lai Association (YLA) and Mara Thyutlia Py (MTP) or Young Mara Association, both in southern Mizoram and other civil societies to organize rally on that day in their respective district headquarters.
Meanwhile, with 14 more internally displaced people (IDPs) entering the state during the last 24 hours, the total number of Manipur IDPs taking shelter in the state rose to 10,808.
