Arunachal: Detainees under APUAPA including Sol Dodum to move High Court

It was on May 29, that 18 individuals who were detained by the Itanagar district administration under the Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (APUAPA) were released

Arunachal Pradesh rights activist Sol Dodum and 13 others who have been under detention since May 9 last month are planning to move the High Court for their release. As per sources close to Northeast Live, preliminary paper work to proceed to the high court has almost reached the final stage.

It was on May 29, that 18 individuals who were detained by the Itanagar district administration under the Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (APUAPA) were released.

However, 14 others including Sol Dodum were not released. Altogether 37 persons were detained under the APUAPA to prevent any law and order situation during the 72-hour bandh called by a number of individual groups from May 10-12.

The list of key people who are still under detention are:

  2. Tana Tamar Tara, AAP
  3. Taw Paul, Chairman Pro-dam movement
  4. Nabam Sanjay
  5. Yowa Bosco
  6. Viral Rabha
  7. Yowa Topu
  8. Kaku Yarda
  9. Licha Talang
  10. Jidam Riamuk
  11. Gyamar Tayu
  12. Prem Dada
  13. Phassang Kechak
  14. Dangi Pabin

On May 31, Itanagar DC Talo Potom had informed that Sol Dodum, as well as the other detainees would be released after Advisory Boardjudgment. He added that representation recieved seeking release of the detainees had already been forwarded to the government.
