Arunachal’s Kurung Kumey District has been facing an acute shortage of healthcare officials since past few months. The lack of health officials has created inconvenience for the residents of the district.

Addressing the media today, the Koloriang-Damin-Parsi Parlo and Sarli Students Union, or KDPSSU, has brought to light the acute shortage of healthcare officials in the district.

Highlighting the crises faced by the public due to the acute shortage of manpower in the district hospitals of Kurung Kumey, the student organization asserted that it is due to unsystematic transfer and posting in the district.

“In our district, there are 16 nursing officers posted; however, they were transferred without a reliever, so the public in the district is facing the problem in the health sector,” the KDPSSU said.

The union has also blamed the Joint Direction NHM and the missing director for the shortage.

The union has demanded to the Mission Director, NHM, the appointment of a GDMO in the district hospital, the filling of the posts of Block Data Manager, Block Community Mobilizers, and Block Account Manager, and also to address the shortage of health care staffers.

The KDPSSU also informed me that they had earlier served a 14-day ultimatum to the concerned authority, but the authority failed to respond to it.
