The first wave of floods in Assam has claimed another life in Gohpur. After a person lost his life at Golaghat yesterday, another person name Brajen Rajkhowa has lost his life after he drowned in the rising flood waters.

Heavy rain waters flowing down from Karbi Anglong have flooded the Bokakhat region submerging several villages. Many towns in the region are reeling under the effects of heavy floods. The situation has become so tense that several colleges and government offices have been closed temporarily.

Along with the rest of Assam, the Barak valley too is facing the wrath of severe floods. The situation of floods in the Cachar district continues to grow worse by each passing day. Several areas in the district have been placed under danger level.

About 500 villages under the Silchar constituency are submerged in floods including the National Highway making communications difficult in the region. Several important buildings including educational institutes and government offices have been hit in the torrential floods.

Manipur continues to reel under severe floods. Several parts of the state are facing heavy flood waters forcing people to take refuge in relief camps. The authorities and SDRF are taking steps to rescue as many people as possible.

Relief camps are being set up in several parts of the floods affected areas. Meanwhile, heavy rains continue to lash through most parts of the state making the situation more difficult.
