The CM would be inspecting road projects in 6 districts covering 3 regions of Subansiri, Siang and Lohit, the central and eastern belts of the state.
Chief Minister of the frontier state of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu is on a mission. His mission — to fix, improve and develop the roads and ensure overall infrastructure development of the state that borders China.
The Chief Minister has embarked on a 6-day tour of six districts covering the three regions of Subansiri, Siang and Lohit, the central and eastern belts of the state.
The Chief Minister’s first stop was the Potin to Daporijo stretch of Potin-Pangin two-lane highway project. He reviewed the progress of the under-construction project and expressed happiness with the progress made.
“The 400-km long Potin-Pangin is a dream project worth Rs 4000 crore. Happy to see the construction work has picked up momentum. The construction of Potin-Pangin double-lane highway (NH-13) is divided into three packages. With its completion, commuting from Itanagar to District HQs of Ziro, Daporijo, Raga, Basar, Pangin and Aalo will be easy. It will also help people travelling within the state without having to touch Assam”, the CM tweeted.
The rural road network of the state got a further boost after the Centre on Tuesday released Rs 22.74 crore for the upkeep, maintenance and development of rural roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The grant-in-aid was given in recognition of the state’s “best performance” in the implementation of the rural road development scheme during the 2022-23 financial year.
CM Khandu’s focus on improving the roads of Arunachal is evident from Roing MLA Mutchu Mithi’s tweet where he wrote, ““Don’t be MISLEAD. This isn’t Highways construction, but Roing’s Township Internal Roads being constructed by Local PWD Division…. Once completed the Twonship will have an amazing road network in all sector areas thanks to HCM”.
It is not just the state’s road infra that the CM is focusing on. The state’s agriculture sector got a big fillip after the Centre approved Rs 493.98 crore under the PMKSY-Har Khet Ko Paani Scheme. The first instalment of Rs 39.80 crore has already been released by the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti.
The amount sanctioned by the Centre is expected to help irrigate 12,500 hectares of agri land.
