Arunachal jail break: Manhunt on to nab 2 NSCN-K rebels

Massive manhunt is underway to nab the two hardcore NSCN (K) Nikki Sumi faction rebels, who had escaped the Khonsa Jail yesterday after killing a constable and critically injuring another.

Tight vigil is also being maintained and house to house search operations are being conducted to apprehend the absconders. The police are also taking help from the Assam Rifles and CRPF to nab the duo.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Tirap DC Hento Karga, “The incident took place at around 6 PM. One of the inmate of the jail he snatched away the arms (weapons) of a guard and then he shot the policeman. The person who snatched the gun, he fled from the scene with another inmate. Both of them fled and the injured policeman was evacuated to the district hospital. He was further taken to AMCH for further treatment and on the way he succumbed to his injuries.”

The Tirap DC informed, “Operation is being launched and we have sealed all the roads to Changlang, Longding and Assam. The Arunachal Pradesh police, CRPF and the Assam Rifles has been put into active service. And I hope they will be caught at any moment. We have alerted the paramilitary and they alongwith the police is putting the best effort.”

When asked about if there were any lapses that led to the incident, Tirap DC Hento Karga said,”it is difficult to say without examining the matter”.

The two militants have been identified as self styled private Rocksen Homchha and Tipu Kitnya.

The deceased constable has been identified as Wangnyien Bosai.
