Banks all over the country have been shut down after the United Forum of Bank Unions called for a two day long strike from today till tomorrow.
The strike has been called in to protest a nominal 2 percent wage hike offered to Indian Banks Association. The strike is expected to hit ATM services as monthly salary credits are expected tomorrow.
This would not affect online transactions however. It is to be noted here that ATM guards are also expected to join the strike. So even if banks re-plenish ATMs, their safety cannot be guaranteed, thus impacting cash withdrawals.
The banks, however, have stated that ATM’s would be replenished before employees go on strike.
