The divide between the Meghalaya Congress and the All India Congress Committee is now out in the open. Meghalaya CLP leader Ampareen Lyngdoh on February 10th openly took a dig at the party high command.

Briefing media, Ampareen Lyngdoh said that the AICC did nothing even after 12 Congress MLAs led by former Chief Minister jumped ship to the TMC. Lyngdoh went to the extent of saying that the AICC has no right to dictate terms to the 5 Congress MLAs in the state, who have been elected by people’s mandate.

The Meghalaya CLP leader said that the Meghalaya Congress is showing the way to the AICC to take the party forward. Ampareen Lyngdoh, said that if the AICC does not listen to the voices of the 5 Meghalaya Congress, than certainly actions would against the wishes of the AICC. The CLP leader affirmed that the AICC will never be ditched, which should not have any further control on the Meghalaya Congress MLAs.

In fact the Meghalaya Congress is also now a divided house, as the CLP has questioned the role of the MPCC. Ampareen Lyngdoh said that nothing was communicated to the CLP by the MPCC over extension of issue based support to the ruling MDA-coalition.
