Mizoram: Civil society and political parties join hands together to oppose Uniform Civil Code

In the meeting, the stakeholders agreed that enforcement of UCC would not be safe for the people of Mizoram

The Civil society as well political parties in Mizoram have come together to oppose the proposed implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).

To deliberate on the issue, a meeting was held at the office of the central committee of the Young Mizo Association (YMA). Representatives of the Mizo National Front (MNF), the Congress, the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), the BJP were present in the meeting. Besides, members of the Mizoram HmeichheInsuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP) or women’s organization and the Mizoram Upa Pawl (MUP) or elders’ association represented the civil society.
