Reportedly, Rupam had called his wife before committing suicide and had informed her about his intentions

Unable to bear his wife’s taunts and body shaming for being fat, a 28-year-old man committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Guwahati’s Noonmati area.

The young man identified as Rupam Medhi, a resident of Luit Nagar, Noonmati, had called his wife just before jumping in front of the train and told her that he is going to end his life.

As per the locals, Rupam’s wife used to body shame him saying he had put on weight after marriage and sought divorce from him. Both were living separately for the last three months.

Rupam Medhi’s body was recovered from the railway track this morning. Rupam Medhi had tied the knot with his girlfriend two years back.

Investigation into the matter is ongoing.
