Nagaland Polls 2023: NPF releases 2nd list of 6 candidates
First Published: 5th February, 2023 19:26 IST
NPF President, Dr. Shürhozelie, pointed out that the NPF, being the only and oldest regional political party in Nagaland, has survived to defend the Naga people at all costs
The Naga People’s Front (NPF) released its second list of six candidates on Sunday. The list was released by the NPF president, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, at the party’s central office.
More tickets are expected to be issued on February 6.
The list includes Moasangba Jamir from Mongiya constituency, Major Toshikaba (Retd) from Koridang constituency, Imjongwati Longkumer from Jangpetkong constituency, Akavi Sumi from Zunheboto constituency, Chingsak Konyak from Phomching constituency, and H. Mukam from Shamator Chessore.
Speaking at the occasion, NPF President, Dr. Shürhozelie, pointed out that the NPF, being the only and oldest regional political party in Nagaland, has survived to defend the Naga people at all costs, and the party will remain in all time to come.
He also said that the NPF party is facing a temporary setback as it could not participate in all 60 Assembly constituencies. The president also said that many party ticket seekers have approached for the ticket, but the party has decided to marginalise them and issue it only to the best one.
Meanwhile, the leader of the NPF Legislature Party, Kuzholuzo Azo Nienu, in his speech, regretted that the Nagas are facing one of the dirtiest politics at present, where money has become the commander of the people, and said that many candidates have fallen under the trap of money.
Though the NPF is not fielding candidates for all 60 seats, it asserts that the party will produce the best result in the coming election.
He also congratulated all the party ticket holders, describing them as “the bravest among the bravest people” for having stood up to fight against the money power for the welfare of the Naga people.
Azo also lamented that many Naga leaders have now become commodities that can be bought and sold.
The party is likely to issue a few more tickets before the last date for filing nominations. It may be mentioned that for Dimapur-1 Assembly Constituency (General Seat), the party has received an application from Bishnu Bhattacharjee, the President of NPF Minority Wing, who is considered one of the most trusted party leaders. However, the party is of the opinion that his service to the party is more important than contesting the election, and keeping in mind the importance of his service, the party is requesting that he not contest, and so the ticket may not be issued to him.
