The third conclave of the North East Democratic Alliance was held at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakhetra auditorium in Guwahati yesterday where BJP national President Amit Shah lit the ceremonial lamp to kick-off the crucial NEDA meet.
Apart from NEDA convenor Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, chief ministers of as many as 6 Northeastern states besides other leaders also attended the meet. It was a historic NEDA conclave as never before in the history of the country had 7 chief ministers from the region been a part of one common political platform.
For the first time, Chief Ministers of all six NEDA-ruled North-eastern states attended the crucial North East Democratic Alliance conclave. Baring Sikkim’s Pawan Chamling, chief ministers of all NEDA ruled states were present.
Addressing the gathering, BJP national President Amit Shah said the purpose for which the NEDA was constituted has been fulfilled today. The BJP President lauded the Chief Ministers of the region for being successful in fulfilling the main motive of the NEDA.
He further said that if the Northeast has to be united with India, then a forum had to be created which would represent the entire region in one platform. Shah reiterated the NDA-led government’s commitment to develop the Northeast and pointed out that PM Modi has been relentlessly pushing for the growth of Northeast.
