Manipur to host medical tourism conclave

Conclave to be organised by Shija Hospitals in collaboration with CII and state tourism department
In a bid to promote medical tourism in Manipur and further explore its potentials as medical tourism destination, the state is expected to host a medical tourism conclave in March this year.
Announcing this, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute (SHRI), Dr. Palin Khundongbam said that the conclave will be organised in collaboration with the Manipur chapter of CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) and the state tourism department.
Dr. Palin further said that delegates from other states as well as foreign countries including Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nepal, Japan among others will be invited.
Meanwhile, SHRI today achieved a milestone by performing 75 kidney transplants including one ABO-Incompatible transplant for the first time in North East India so far. The 75 kidney transplant patients include 68 from Manipur, 6 from Nagaland and 1 from Myanmar.
Notably, Shija Hospitals has been at the forefront of promoting Manipur as a destination for medical tourism. The hospital is recognized as a referral center for kidney transplant by the Governments of Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram for treatment, including renal transplant.
