Manipur CM condoles death of Manipur woman shot amid FIFA WC celebrations, meets JAC

A case has been registered and the police have apprehended one suspect in connection with the incident.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh today condoled the death of the 50-year-old who was killed at her home on Sunday by some miscreants while she was celebrating Argentina’s win at the FIFA World Cup.
“I extend my sincere condolences to the bereaved family,” the CM said in a tweet today where he also mentioned about his meeting with the Joint Action Committee (JAC) who have been demanding immediate justice for the deceased and her family and said that a case has already been registered and a suspect has been apprehended by the police.
“Met with JAC of the death of Laqishram (o) Ibetombi who was killed by a stray bullet amid FIFA World Cup celebrations…A case has already been registered and one suspect has already been apprehended by the police,” the CM’s tweet read.
The deceased was the wife of Laishram Biramani, 69, of Singjmei Wangma Bheigyabati Leikai in Imphal East. She was hit by a bullet on Sunday at around 11.50 pm.
As per the husband of the deceased woman, the lady was holding a 2-year-old baby in her lap when she was shot. Two bullets were fired at their residence. One passed through their wall while the other hit the woman. The husband said that they heard gunshots amid the sounds of firecrackers being blasted outside by people for celebrations.
Following the incident, the deceased woman was rushed to the hospital where she was declared brought dead.
One suspect identified as Khangembam Devkanta alias Bobby of the same locality, has been apprehended by the police.
