Thubchog Gatseling Monastery observes Mahaparinirvana of Je Lama Tsongkhapa

To mark the occasion, prayers were offered at the monastery by the monks and residents of the town.
The Thubchog Gatseling Monastery observed the Mahaparinirvana of Je Lama Tsongkhapa on Sunday.
Led by Padmashri, His Eminence the 12th Guru Tulku Rinpoche of Thubchog Gatseling Monastery of Bomdila offered prayers on the occasion of Gaden Ngamchoe, the day marking the death anniversary of the founder of the Geluk sect of Mahayana Buddhism.
To mark the occasion, prayers were offered at the monastery by the monks and residents of the town. People offered hundreds of butter lamps in gratitude and to honour the founder, Je Lama Tsongkhapa.
At the main Tibetan Temple in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, the 14th Dalai Lama also led prayers in honour of Lama Tsongkhapa Day.
Meanwhile, a senior monastery monk stated that on this day, 1000 prayers, 1000 sacred water bowls, 1000 fruit offerings, and 1000 butter lamps are offered.
