Home Minister Amit Shah to meet ENPO on Dec 3

First Published: 27th November, 2022 10:49 IST

A big development as the ENPO has been awaiting an appointment with HM Shah for months

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to meet a delegation of the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) on December 3, 2022, sources informed Northeast Live.

The crucial meeting comes at a time when the ENPO is not just demanding a separate frontier Nagaland state but also the two resolutions adopted by them — to boycott general and Assembly elections and to boycott the Hornbill festival.

ENPO has also sought the resignation of the 20 MLAs from the eastern Nagaland region.

The ENPO on 26 August and 14 October adopted the boycott resolutions and said they would stay away from polls and the Hornbill festival unless their demand for a separate state is met.

Earlier in October, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had assured to facilitate a meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and ENPO representatives.

Nagaland CM Rio and Deputy CM Yanthungo Patton would be present at the Dec 3 meeting, highly placed sources said.

ENPO representatives had met Home Minister Shah in Guwahati in October.
