Manipur announces dates for first-ever Wrestling Championship 2022

The 4-day event will be held at the Mini Stadium in Senapati. The event will be hosted by Makhrelui village.
The Senapati District Wrestling Association, Manipur had officially announced dates for the first-ever state-level “Manipur State Indigenous Wrestling Championship, 2022”.
The tournament will begin on November 23 and will be organized in association with the Sangai Festival, 2022 sponsored by the Government of Manipur.
Addressing the media SDWAM General Secretary, R.K. Gideon informed that entry forms have already commenced from October 17 and the last date for submission will be on November 17, 2022.
The 4-day event will be held at the Mini Stadium in Senapati. The event will be hosted by Makhrelui village.
The championship will have 2 different categories, Heavy weight for 65 kg and above and Lightweight for those below 65 kg.
Winners of both categories will be awarded Rs 1 lakh, while Rs 70,000, Rs 50,000, and Rs 30,000 will be awarded respectively to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th position winners holders along with certificates.
It needs to be mentioned here that the previous Open wrestling competition held in 2018 witnessed over 200 wrestlers in 2 different categories with wrestlers from Nagaland participating in the event. Organizers are expecting over 200 wrestlers to take part this time as well.
Manipur state Chief Minister N Biren Singh is likely to grace the inaugural session as the chief guest.
