Manipur National People’s Party (NPP) legislator from Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency, Noorul Hassan made a sensational claim today, stating that he was attacked by a drug mafia on the 5th of April.

The NPP MLA claimed that the scuffle at Kshetrigao in Imphal East was an attack orchestrated by the drug mafia. He further revealed that the individuals involved in the attack were out on bail for various drug-related offenses, including NDPS, POCSO, and others.

Hassan claimed that he was targeted with firearms, and the attackers attempted to strangle him. Fortunately, his Personal Security Officer and security guards intervened, rescuing him and taking him to his sister’s residence for safety.

During the incident, the assailants allegedly fired live rounds after turning off the lights in the area. In response, his security guards fired warning shots to control and disperse the mob, indicating that the attack was premeditated.

Meanwhile, the Porompat Police Station has initiated a Suo Moto case. Hassan has called for swift action against the perpetrators, expressing confidence that the law would take its course.
Hassan has also expressed his intention to file a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the WAQF Act.

Speaking to the media at his residence in Kshetrigao, Imphal East, Hassan stated that the WAQF Amendment Act passed by Parliament last week violated Article 26 and fundamental rights of minorities.

The MLA informed that he has already started preparations to challenge the Act in the Supreme Court within the next seven days, which he intends to pursue independently.
