Buzz within the boxing community hint that MC Mary Kom may now be in a relationship with another man allegedly a fellow boxer’s husband

Is Boxing great MC Mary Kom and her husband Karung Onkholer (popularly known as Onler) heading towards a divorce?

Once seen as the epitome of love, support, and sacrifice, Mary and Onler’s story began like a fairytale but appears to be going through a rocky patch, some harsh reality check now.

Reports have emerged suggesting a possible separation between the Olympic medalist and her husband. And now, multiple sources close to the couple have confirmed that MC Mary Kom and Onler are indeed living separately.

While no formal divorce proceedings have been initiated yet, the rift seems deep enough to raise eyebrows and spark widespread speculation.

MC Mary Kom and Her Husband Karung Onkholer Living Separately?

According to a Hindustan Times report, the couple is believed to have started living separately shortly after Onler’s unsuccessful bid in the 2022 Manipur assembly elections.

Mary Kom has since moved to Faridabad with their 4 children, while Onler currently resides in Delhi with some of his family members.

A source close to the family told Hindustan Times. “Mary was reportedly unhappy about the financial losses of INR 2–3 crores —incurred during the campaign and (the fact) that he lost.”

Another insider claims politics was never Onler’s dream. He was not keen on contesting elections. Mary had encouraged him, but he had warned her about how unpredictable Manipur’s political scene was. After his defeat, their disagreements started to intensify, the Hindustan Times reported.

Are Rumours of a New Romance Fueling the Split?

While both Mary and Onler have remained tight-lipped, buzz within the boxing community hint that Mary may now be in a relationship with another man allegedly a fellow boxer’s husband.

According to the report by Hindustan Times, a boxer speaking on condition of anonymity said, “The separation rumours about MC Mary Kom and Onler might not be just rumours. No one knows the reason for sure, though. Everyone whispers about Mary ma’am being in a relationship with another boxer’s husband. Speculation has been fuelled further by her recent Instagram posts featuring him as her business associate.”

The most painful part for Onler has been staying away from his children.

Sources close to Onler said, “He’s heartbroken. He has always been a devoted father and gave up his football career to support Mary and raise their kids. Now he’s unable to meet them, and it’s taken a toll on him emotionally. It is no secret that he put his career on hold so that Mary could build hers.” ‘

Their love story, which began in Delhi in 2000 when Onler helped Mary after she lost her luggage en route to a boxing tournament, had captured the imagination of many. They married in 2005, had twin sons in 2007, another son in 2013, and adopted a daughter in 2018.

Mary has often spoken of Onler as her “pillar of strength.” Their journey even inspired the 2014 Bollywood biopic Mary Kom, with Priyanka Chopra playing the iconic boxer.
