An Indian Army pilot died in a Cheetah helicopter crash near Tawang area of Arunachal Pradesh this morning.

The Army Aviation Cheetah helicopter was flying in the forward area near Tawang when it crashed at around 10 am during a routine sortie.

The crash site was reported to be near BTK Waterfalls under Lungla police station in Tawang, 65 kilometres from Tawang headquarters.

There were two pilots in the chopper. Both were evacuated to the nearest Military Hospital. 

One of the pilots Lt Col Saurabh Yadav, who was critically injured succumbed to the injuries during treatment. 

The second pilot is under medical treatment. 

The cause of the crash and details are yet to be ascertained.
