Restoration works are underway near the Tippi Waterfall on the Balipara-Chariduar-Tawang road in West Kameng district, where three vehicles were swept away by a mudslide yesterday evening.
Meanwhile, the BRO authorities informed that men and machines have been heavily deployed for the restoration work, which has been taken up since this morning despite the drizzling. The authorities expressed that it would take another day to clear the debris and boulders for the traffic.
Earlier, there were reports that there was a small spring of water, which had turned voluminous during the monsoons. Since then, the place has been often blocked due to mudslides and boulders.

Meanwhile, BRO officials have confirmed to Northeast Live that there is no natural reservoir or formation of a lake at the top of the mountain. However, it is assumed that the soil, being porous and loose, absorbs rain water, which frequently triggers such massive mudslides.
However, it was mentioned that a proper survey will be initiated to avert any disaster in the future to ensure the safety of life and properties passing through this stretch.
Meanwhile, traffic for Tezpur and Guwahati from West Kameng district and Tawang has been passing through the Orang-Rupa-Tenga route.
