State Finance Committee Reviews Rs. 70 Crore Proposals for Development Across Assam

The Social Justice and Empowerment Department presented multiple proposals under the Rs. 14.99 crore One-Time Special Grant Scheme.
The State Finance Committee (SFC), chaired by Chief Secretary Assam, reviewed and recommended proposals worth Rs. 70 crore across various sectors. The meeting, held as per the directives of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, focused on key initiatives aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure, education, skill development, healthcare, and social welfare.
Among the major proposals, the Department of Housing and Urban Affairs (DoHUA) sought administrative approval for Rs. 13 crore in FY 2024-25 to integrate Nehru Park and Judge’s Field in Guwahati, aiming to improve the city’s public spaces and urban landscape. A Rs. 15 crore proposal for a Placement Linked Skill Development Training Programme across all districts was also reviewed to equip the youth with job-ready skills and foster entrepreneurship.
In the higher education sector, a Rs. 9.98 crore proposal was discussed to develop infrastructure at North Lakhimpur College, elevating it to university status under the TNEIF scheme for FY 2024-25. In healthcare, a revised sanction proposal of Rs. 18.09 crore was addressed for setting up a Flat Panel Digital Cardiac Catheterisation Lab at the 151 Base Army Hospital in Basistha, which aims to enhance medical research and treatment facilities.
Additionally, the Social Justice and Empowerment Department presented multiple proposals under the Rs. 14.99 crore One-Time Special Grant Scheme. These proposals include the procurement and distribution of household essentials for SC and OBC families and providing educational and sports essentials to students from these communities. These recommendations reflect the government’s commitment to comprehensive development and welfare in Assam, focusing on inclusive growth and enhanced public services.
