Arunachal police recovers 1.2 kg heroin from Dimapur; 5 held

In a major crackdown on drugs, Arunachal Police recovered 1.2 KG of heroin worth ₹2.36 Cr from Dimapur. Dimapur-based supplier along with 2 others arrested by Seppa Police in a joint operation with Dimapur Police.

An accused Apu Venia was arrested on 24 July with 5.38 gm Heroin in Seppa. During interrogation, it came to light that he brought Heroin from the Sonitpur district.

Thereafter district police started making a chain of suppliers by using technical and financial records. Based on Venia’s disclosure, two peddlers Saiful Islam and Asadul Islam were arrested from Itakhola, Biswanath Charali district of Assam on August 1.

On further interrogation of Saiful, one main supplier Ashraf Hossain, with an area of operation of Assam from Karbi Anglong to Guwahati operating from Dimapur/Karbi Anglong border was identified.

One team of Seppa Police camped in the Karbi Anglong area for 3 days to understand the modus operandi of Ashraf Hossain Chaudhary. The information was shared with Dimapur Police on Sunday.

Thereafter, in a well-planned operation with the Dimapur East Police team, Ashraf Hossain Chaudhary was apprehended on the same day with the recovery of 1200 gm of heroin when he was dealing a part of the quantity to Kamaluddin in Dimapur. Kamaluddin also was arrested on the spot.
