The construction of Manipur’s first ever Medical College among the Hill districts, the long awaited Churachandpur Medical College is finally over.

Health Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh paid a visit to the hospital today, checking on the feasibility, to carry out an inauguration program within 5 to 7 days.

The minister accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary Health Vumlunmang Vualnam, Directors of the new college Sashee Kumar and Soubam Iboyaima as well as MLA LM Khaute and other district officials inspected the college.

Speaking during the sidelines of the visit, the Health Minister informed that only after Chief Minister N Biren Singh gives the nod, the inauguration of the college shall be carried out. He also added that they will try to start classes during the first week of October.

The Churachandpur Medical College is the first of its kind among the hill district of Manipur and due care has been given to see that things don’t go haywire.

On the infrastructure front, the Additional Chief Secretary Vumlunmang informed more equipment will be installed and various accommodation centres have been arranged at different places in the town.
